Your First Start into Dragon Boating
Have you ever wanted to try dragon boating but weren't sure where to start?
DragonStart is AusDBF's introductory "come and try" experience, giving you the opportunity to get out on the water, meet your local club, and experience one of Australia's most welcoming and inclusive sports—all with no previous experience required.
Whether you're looking to improve your fitness, meet new people, challenge yourself, or simply try something different, DragonStart is the perfect place to begin.
Why Try Dragon Boating?
Dragon boating is much more than just paddling.
It's a sport that brings people together through teamwork, friendship and shared experiences. People of all ages, fitness levels and backgrounds participate in dragon boating, whether they're looking to compete, paddle socially or simply enjoy being active on the water.

What is DragonStart?
DragonStart is a single-session introductory experience designed specifically for people who are new to dragon boating.
During your session you'll:
- Meet your local club
- Learn the basics of dragon boating
- Receive an introduction to paddling technique and safety
- Experience paddling with a crew
- Ask questions and learn more about the sport
No previous experience is needed.
What Happens Next?
If you enjoy your DragonStart session, you can continue your dragon boating journey through DragonPass, a 30-day trial that gives you the opportunity to attend training sessions, build your skills and become part of your local club before deciding on full membership.
